AP Environmental Science? AP Econ? What's right for me?

I’m currently in my junior year and its come time to sign up for senior year courses. I’m in two AP classes right now AP Psychology and AP US History. I have A’s in both, and I’m really proud of my A in APUSH because it’s not an easy class, but AP Psych has been pretty much a breeze as it is for most. I’m wondering how important it is to be in AP classes senior year. I’m planning to attend a CSU (in southern California where it is more competitive).

AP Environmental science has been on my radar but I want to know how difficult it is. I really don’t like math and honestly I’m pretty bad at it. I’ve never received lower than a B in a math course but I still struggle. I also suck at word problems which I hear APES involves a bit of. Is it actually “easy” like everyone on this site is saying or are the same people who find it easy the ones who are in AP physics and calculus? I’m okay with science, although I don’t particularly enjoy it. I received an A in biology in 10th grade and an B+ last semester for anatomy and physiology (but I don’t put all my effort into anat) so science isn’t as bad as math is for me. I have also considered AP econ which is only a semester long, but my APUSH teacher warned us that it involves some math. Again, math is scaring me off. I really try to avoid it like the plague. Which is easier in your opinion, APES or AP Econ? Why? Do CSU’s want to see AP classes senior year?

I took both Environmental Science and Economics, and I got a 5 on APES and a 4 on Econ. I honestly don’t remember the composition of the tests I can tell you that each class is as easy or hard as you want to make it,

There is A LOT of material for APES and we did not even finish the book by the exam. If you take it, don’t go in with the mentality that it is going to be easy because you will NOT do well without keeping up with the reading.

I’m like you and don’t have a likeness for math and so I was also really worried about Econ at first. There is very little math in Economics, and all of it is like simple 9th grade algebra. Economics is mostly being able to read graphs and recognize/predict future patterns. The test will be difficult though if you can’t grasp the patterns and you really need to study for it. I had Econ in the fall and so I pretty much forgot everything by spring, so be careful if that happens! My class also did not have a textbook or readings or anything, but every teacher is different.

I don’t know what you mean by a CSU, but if you mean a college/university then yes, they absolutely like to see APs your senior year, especially if you took them in previous years. It just shows that you didn’t slack off senior year.

Hope this helps!

Yes thank you that was very helpful! CSU= California state university. I can manage keeping up with reading but does APES require a lot of math?
