ap environmental science books?

For all those who've taken AP Environmental Science or have self-studied it, what books (especially textbooks) would you recommend to study from?

I have heard that the Barrons review book for this subject is WAY too detailed and unneccesary. I also heard that the Miller textbook (Living in the Environment) is the best book to prep.

That's what I plan on using to self-study this subject!!

In addition, PR is releasing a prep book for this subject in early January and PR tends to have decent books.

Hope it helps

Yeah, Barron's is UNarguably the worst book to get for enviro. I used it and hated it. Miller's textbook saved me.

I've heard REA is decent. And yeah, PR has good AP books in general. But it's the first edition...

I'd recommend PR + Miller + REA practice tests.

Barrons- the best book ever because it OVER prepared me. There are so many small details that you pick up the bigger, important ones. I did very well on the ap test and I used barrons the whole year.

barrons suck!

i mean i did well w/ barrons... so obviously i'm biased.

Awesome guides are good for env sci.

I wouldn't bother with a book. Honestly, the test changes so much each year (for example, this year, at least 10 percent of the test had to do somehow with disease, something which was never mentioned in the collegeboard description or any review book) that you're better off learning overarching conepts and being able to apply them than to memorize random facts. It isn't a stable test like APUSH, Calc, or Euro that is old enough to recycle questions.

Oh, and despite having a terrible teacher, I used this strategy and got a 5.

that really helps everyone. thanks!

Read Miller cover-to-cover once through, then in April do all the practice tests in REA (dont even bother with the review parts... i just went to borders and did the tests there...not even worth the money). it's an easy 4.

i skimmed thru some of the sections in barrons while i was prepping last year...worthless
