AP Environmental Science Questions

  1. How difficult is it to self-study for APES if you’re not a particularly science-oriented person? I’m an okay science student (I got an A in CP Biology and worked my tail off for a low B in Honors Chemistry), but I have no great passion for it; I’m planning to major in history.

  2. I’m signed up to take CP Earth & Space Science as a junior. Will any content I learn there help me?

  3. My school offers a CP Environmental Science class. If I took this class senior year, would it help me prepare for the APES test at all?

Thank you!

It is difficult to self-study for an AP science exam, but APES is the easiest so it should be doable. However, if you’re not a science-oriented person, I don’t think it will be worth your time and effort to teach yourself this entire course. IMO, either take the AP class or don’t take the exam at all.

I think you can do it. Most of the course is common sense- climate change, pollution, other environmental problems. I spent the most time studying vocabulary, since there are a few technical terms that are probably not in your everyday vocabulary. I can’t advice for or against self studying, but if you think you have the time, go ahead. Get Barrons and/or 5 steps to a 5 prep books and study that.

Something I realized I forgot to mention - my school doesn’t offer the AP course. The CP class is the only Environmental Science class it has.

Does your school offer Physics and AP Physics? Physics may be more useful if your wanting to major in any field of STEM but if not then go for AP Environmental Science since it is known as an easy AP class.
