AP Environmental Science

Should I take it? Is it difficult?

Your standard of course difficulty may be different from someone else’s. I’m a high school senior taking APES, and it involves a lot of thinking. You also have to memorize important environmental policies snd acts. You have to apply concepts that you learned in class on the tests and FRQ’s. You have to be willing to study the material everyday - it’s a college level class. Do you enjoy science? Did you take biology and/or chemistry? How did you like your previous science classes? If science isn’t your strongest subject, I would advise against taking APES. It also depends on the teacher. Some teachers are more lenient, which means the class could be an easy A. It also depends on how they teach and present the material. Be wise about your decision - you don’t want to fail the class, especially if you’re a senior.

I think it would depend on the teacher. At my school, we do lots of projects and basically would just need to memorize the notes (that we take in class) to do well on the quizzes. It’s referred to as “AP Extra Sleep” because there is minimal homework and right now all we’re doing is planting things in our school garden. I think you should ask around to get an idea of what the class is like and maybe even talk to the teacher. If the class is hard, ask yourself if you’re interested in it or if you’re pursuing a career in it - if the answer is yes, then by all means take it
