what do colleges think of ap environmental science? what do you guys think of ap environmental science?

bumpbumpbump

I don't think colleges really care... not to be rude or anything but I think it is looked at as any other science course but not as tough as the AP Physics and possibly AP Chem. I also believe that this is a class that varies widely at each school. I took the class and our teacher was REALLY hard and I was one of two out of ~50 who got A's in the class. I scored a four but I really thought I bombed one of the essays(had no clue about the topic) but obviously did well on the other sections. At another school in our county about half the class gets A's but few get decent scores(4 or 5).

I thought it was an easy class but much of what we did were research papers... tons of research papers. I enjoyed doing those and the tests were right from the text. Also, the Barrons review book basically outlines the AP test for you.

Good luck!

i think that ap env. science can actually hurt your chances. colleges will get turned off to see you are trying to impress them by taking an AP course, but in actuality this course is not rigorous at all. they would rather expect you to take ap chem, bio, or physics.

the only advantage you can get out of ap env sci. is that you get a higher weighted gpa on your transcripts, which can be helpful if needed.

Cryptoc_fate... I don't completely disagree but what do you say about art history, micro/macro econ, statistics, studio art, human geography, comparative government, U.S. government, and psychology? These are also regarded as easy APs at my school and other schools that I know of... should also you avoid those? I mean, if you enjoy the course and do well, colleges aren't going to care... BUT if you load up on ALL easy APs then a flag might go up that you are simply a lazy student.

Honestly don't worry aobut it... whether you take AP Bio or AP Env if you're destined to get into a school you're going to get in. Your entire transcript, your ECs, your leadership positions, and you recs are going to matter more... concentrate on those.

good luck!

art history, micro/macro econ, statistics, comparative government, U.S. government

The above APs cannot be classified as "easy." these take alot of studying to get a good score.

I wouldn't count on it being a tie-breaker or a hook, but if you're interested in the subject, take the bloody class. Otherwise, don't.

it won't hurt... and it could help... if only a little...

cryptic i really don't see what's hard about ap chem..... so hyped up its not even funny.... now physics C that's a whole other story

*** are you guys saying. AP Environmental Science is a pretty hardcore class. Tons of reading and Research but usually, in our school, it is an alternative for AP Bio if they couldnt pass the admission test. It will not hurt your chances to take this class.

cryptic_fate - ^ you don't know what you are talking about. In some schools, (including mine) it is just as hard as AP Bio. (I took both one year)

APES is the joke AP at my HS.

W.T.F. is censored around here? Jeez, that's f'in serious restraints on language. :p

thanks. its required to take four years of science at my school, and ive taken all the other honors/ap courses (ap bio, ap chem, honors bio, honors chem), so next year i can either take ap es or ap physics. the thing is, is aside from science, my course load is pretty heavy--two languages and two maths. thus, i was thinking of maybe taking it easy w. the science.

the only reason im taking this is for the siemens ap scholar thing.. and at this point i am screwed :( there are no good study books for this worthless subject >:O

oh dood yeah this class is annoying and hard as he ll just because of the sheer amount of information covered.. im calling it worthless cuz im bitter haha

I've heard many negative comments about APES. Nevertheless, I'm considering taking APES next year. What are the positive aspects about taking APES? Now, obviously, even an outsider can deduce that APES is related to the study of the environment. However, I'm curious as to what some examples of topics covered in APES are?

^ audioslave..FINALLY DER IS SOMEONE WHO IS INTERESTED IN THIS CLASS. They say that APES is a joke and crap but trust me, labs and reading is almost on a daily basis. In APES, our class, really went on trips to Catalina Island to do research, and went to various national parks to study. the class is awesome because the lab isnt as hard as AP Bio's but reading is almost equivalent. The test are pretty ok if you read your stuff. its a good class. oh audioslave, this class is an AP. dont believe the people here and go and think an A will just be handed out. a couple of my friends made that mistake and kabam, barely made B becuz they thought the reading wasnt important

there are labs for ap es?

My AP ES class has labs ...
