AP Environmental Science?

Is it really viewed as an easy class?

I think it was just as hard as my other AP classes...we had A LOT of work to do.

How does it look?

Also, could I take the AP Chemistry exam and just take Honors Chem.?

There were too many people in the AP Chem. class, so I had to take Honors. However, I want to major pre-med and get started on college credit.

What do you advise?

the difficulty of AP classes really depends on the teacher, but I would say that since APES draws from current events, biology, chemistry, and common sense, most of us have already learned the info.

You can take the AP Chemistry exam without taking the class, but I wouldn't advise it.
=> advice coming from high school senior, if that's who "you" is addressing.

I'm with you there ---

AP Environmental was the hardest class I took in high school, and I even took Chem 101 and 102 at Guilford College (and that was very, very difficult). It was just the sheer AMOUNT of work that we had to do that was so ridiculous. Then the AP was the easiest one I took. I exerted little to no energy, it seemed, and made a 5.

If you've taken it already, man, don't worry about it. Just make a good grade on the AP.

It would look good to take the AP Chem test and do well on it, but if you're not prepared for it, watch out. That said, if you want to go pre-med, do your best to try and get into that AP Chem class.

I took both the AP Enviro and AP Chem classes and AP exams and received 5's on both. That being said, I felt like the enviro class was a lot of work, but the material was much easier. Enviro is viewed by others (at least at my school) as a joke class, but all the college interviewers I've talked to did not distinguish between the AP courses I took.

The AP chem exam was pretty challenging...I was very surprised with my score. I think if you want to prove your chemistry skills, you can also take the Chem SAT. I think you should talk to the AP chem teacher or your honors chem teacher to talk about you on an individual basis.

Thanks for the advice, guys. I agree that the material was not extremely difficult, but the work load was insane.

I tried to get into AP Chem., but I was not able to join the class. I am now taking Honors Chem. and am seriously considering taking that AP exam because of pre-med major.

Should I get some sort of tutor?

i doubt you'll be prepared for the AP chem exam without having taken the course--it's supposed to be a really difficult test.

also, you probably don't want to place out of chemistry at UNC because you'll most likely be behind in the upper-level chem class.

Leah-

So you're saying that it would be better to just start reg. Chem. at UNC?

yeah definitely!

The AP Chem is far and away one of the easiest AP exams, especially if you use the AP reference table throughout the exam. What you wanna do if you wanna take the AP this year without taking a course is buy the Princeton Review AP Chem review book and just read it. You'll do fine (get a 5). I promise
