How should the FRQs be written? Is it expected to be like a DBQ? (or as long as a DBQ?) My teacher always says it should be "as long as you need to answer the question completely," but that doesn't give me too good of an idea of how I should write it. Is it closer to a paragraph or two just demonstrating that you know some background info? Even though it's subjective, are there guidelines for grading it? What's the general format for one? I know we get less time than we do for the DBQ, but we don't have anything to read, so maybe it should be as long as the DBQ (which, for me, is about 1.5 to 2 pages). Is that too short for the DBQ?

I’m probably not the most informed on this subject, but I write a pretty mean Frq and they are usually 1.5 pages hand written. Probably much shorter typed. Just make sure to follow every single GUIDELINE. Answer the question completely, but there are rubrics that you have to follow completely too. You can look those up online if you are unsure. Honestly, they are really no big thing. Dbq’s are supposed to be more… challenging (that’s not really the right word) but they are supposed to be more showy than the free response. If you really want to increase your chance at a 5 on this, up your MC score. At least that’s what I’m doing. If you get a good 70/80 there is hardly a chance that you won’t make a 5.
