AP Euro is killing my Transcipt

I posted this in the AP Prep one for answer to the 2nd question I am posting it here for answer to the first question.

First of all my school will NOT let my take a different class. Second I really want to get into Harvard or MIT. Now to the problem:

We have daily reading, which we have daily a quiz over. I have been doing really bad on them because I can not learn so much information in one night while doing all my other homework. Right now I am failing the class and the semester is coming to an end. My grades last year (freshman year) were not to good (1 C rest were B's and A's). So i have two questions:

*Should I just give up on my dream schools?
*Any tips for me on the quizs? PS They are require very detail answers

Most successful applicants to Harvard and MIT were straight “A” or near straight “A” students in HS.

You’re not getting into Harvard.

You have a 1360 on your SAT (out of 2400). Even for a sophomore that is abysmally low.

You already have a C from freshman year? That’s supposed to be your easiest year.

And now you’re failing a class… just give up. No offense.

Harvard and similarly competitive schools are not realistic options for you.

Dang! Stalker much!! Lol jk. But foreal is there no other way?! I’m think I’m going to go cry now…wait r u sure I should give up? Also well the SAT was just a practice I am going to retake it study and get a way higher score

Why just b/c of two grades? :'(

Think about it for a second. Admissions officers are going to receive your application and ask, why should we accept this person? People who are valedictorians and have amazing test scores are often rejected from schools like Harvard… why would someone with none of those even stand a chance? Unless you cure cancer before applying (and even then it’s a stretch if you’ll be accepted) I doubt you will get into any of your dream schools (they’re called that for a reason).

But you should still strive to go to a good school. If you pull up your grades and pull off a 2100+ (improbable, but if you study insanely hard…) then you could have a decent shot at a top 25 school.

So you are saying there is nothing that I can do (like publish a best selling novel, wining isef, or anything else ACTUALLY possible) would over come that fact?

^Pretty much. Most winners of national science competitions/other competitions have top grades in school and excellent ECs outside of school, and know how to balance their schoolwork with crazy outside work. I mean its practically impossible to find a nationally recognized scientist, musician, etc with abysmal grades or test scores. Basically, I’m saying what the others are saying.

I can’t tell if he is serious.

^just realizing this does seem like a ■■■■■ thread…no wonder people haven’t been replying. Sry! This is 100% real no joke!!!please help!

Unfortunately, it would seem like Harvard is beyond you. Consider schools that you can get into, and see what happens after that.

…

you asked a question and don’t seem to be accepting the answer. Then why ask?

metaphor ALERT! Its just like you asking what happened to your friend and the person replys, “He’s dead”. You respond, “No it can’t be! I don’t believe you! How do you even know!?!” and they say back “It’s obvious did you hear what happened to him?”

The person states his thoughts as a fact based on other situations, however they do not know for sure. You wouldn’t just give up hope like that would you? If so…if so…you really rethink your self.

If you think you have a shot, then apply, but you really need to look at some more realistic options too

So really fast everyone if I got a newyork times best selling novel would that make up for it at all?

Pretty sure writing a NYT bestseller is much, much harder than getting into Harvard.

If you are failing a course… do you really think you can write a best selling novel or win a major competition… You should work hard for at least a 2250+ and you might have a tiny TINY chance…
BTW for Intel competition, I heard that you should have at least 750 in reading and writing for you to even have a chance at semifinalist so…

Also if you have around 1400 overall… that makes your writing/reading grade terribly low… so seriously what are the chances

Lol, looks like Harvard/ivy schools are now only in your dreams. You can’t make up for bad school transcripts or test scores with these “super” awards that you think of. I mean, basically nobody wins these competition or writes a good novel fails class or has bad grades. Be realistic here.

My book would be fiction and history and creative writing are WAY to different things!!! So yes I do since my english teachers are great authors say I could do it and they would help me so yeah I do think that AND about the major competition thing yeah I’ve petty sure I can b/c I already did it in middle school several times  and I will be the next 2400’er WATCH AND SEE!!!

Also I didn’t have time to study only a sophomore so yeah that’s why it was low but I’m retaking it so in Jan so like I said before you’re talking to the next 2400’er!!

Well I guess you don’t know me then! Let me tell you a little story about me…My teachers, friends, and just about everyone else has told me that it is weird I can win all these competitions but do “average” in school. :D
