So, I can't decide whether I should take AP European History or AP Art History. I am interested in both equally. Neither has been taught at my school in recent years. The teacher for Euro is my current AP U.S. teacher, which means I will do fine. But from what I've heard the AP Art teacher is bipolar and I am not sure how I will do in that class. Should I take my chances? But I also have several of my friends taking it.. It's driving me crazy. Your input would be greatly appreciated. =]

AP Euro is generally pretty easy (and pretty interesting if you like history), so unless you really want to pursue art, I would recommend AP Euro over AP Art History.

Could you sit in on one of the current AP Art History classes and see how you feel about the teacher?

theyre both similar difficulty so i'd just choose the one that has the best teacher or the most friends

My APUSH teacher is really good and I'm hoping he can write me a recommendation. I'm so interested in both. I'm probably going to take both in college anyway. Which looks better or unique? They don't have Art History right now, but she teaches Photo. Thanks for the input. =]

I'm in ap Euro right now, and it's the most challenging class (well, at least work load) that is offered to sophomores at our school apart from Precalc.

So. It's very timeconsuming. Expect to do outlines every night, anywhere between 7 to 30 pages of reading and writing.

Easy way out would be art history. I'm doing that, along with AP US hist next year.

I took AP EURO last year, and am currently taking AP ART. Personally, I loved them both. I wouldn't say that ap art history is easier that euro it is a different type of hard. If you like "raw" history, battles etc then do euro, but if you like the more social aspects of history I would go to AP ART

I have AP Art History this year, and I can't stand it. AP Classes vary from school to school, but I know someone in 6 AP classes who claims that APAH is by far the hardest class she has.

I loved AP Euro when I took it two years ago, but that's only because my teacher was awesome. Teachers really do make a difference! I know AP Art History can be quite a challenge. But in the end go with whichever one sounds more interesting :)

I would take AP Euro because of the awesome teacher, and since you already have him this year it would make a good rec letter. Don't worry so much about the friends - you'll make new ones in Euro. (:

Right now, it's AP Euro but that might change because I am still undecided. Does anyone know which would actually look better for colleges?

It really depends on the teacher for each. Both could be awesome, but both could also be horrible, depending on the teacher(s). I chose APAH this year because it is taught by my APUSH teacher, who is hilarious and amazing. I think simply in terms of class content, APAH has a slight edge, since it's more useful in everyday life, unless you want to be a historian or european ambassador; honestly, it has helped me appreciate museums and art galleries so much more.

I would argue that European History is more useful for everyday life, because it gives context to so many things we deal with, from international politics to art. It can also help in literature or foreign language classes as well, because Euro usually covers important figures in history, and you will likely understand literature better if you get all the allusions. Art history can be useful too, but since European history touches so many other aspects of a liberal arts education, I would argue that it would be wiser to take that.

I like AP AH, but it was very hard, at least it would've been if it wasn't on flvs. I've heard AP Euro is really easy, so I would take that.

I would go with ap Euro

You don't take certain AP courses because "they would look better for college." You take AP courses you are interested in.

AP Art History is most definitely not the easy way out.
It is an exciting and rewarding class in which you will learn about the one thing that affects the entire world: art. In the course you will learn why art is what it is; why and how the Renaissance came to be, and how the world around us is shaped primarily by the art of the time.
Art History consists of memorizing anywhere from five hundred to one thousand paintings, drawings, sculptures, and pieces of architecture in a single a grading period. It is the hardest class I have ever taken and the only class I would love to take over and over again.
Art History, in itself, teaches European History.
I have learned more in Art History than I ever have in any other course; it would be a large mistake to choose European History over Art History.

^WTH! How do you manage to have zero post and still have one right there?

P.S.
I would go for AP Euro. It’s more fun, it’s easier, and you won’t have to deal with a bi-polar teacher. You don’t want that kind of craziness during senior year.

They’re both equally hard.

I would actually pick AP Euro, because you learn Art History in it as well.

ap euro is the coolest class ever.
seriously.
drink_alice states the truth, but if you’re into like super memorization contest things go for it … but a friend of mine said that she wanted to bomb all the cathedrals after ap ah last year. that kept me out of it this year. haha.
euro’s pretty much the same with memorizing it’s just fun memorization (i guess?)
