hi everyone, I can't decide which course to take, AP Euro or APUSH...
I'm not sure if i want to take both b/c my school only allows them in 11th and 12 grade, and most of my AP courses end up at senior year...
My first choice in AP Euro, personally because I think it would be so much more interesting, I have nooo interest in APUSH whatsoever.

1.) But people say that APUSH gives more college credits than AP ? Can you tell me what that's about...
2.) If you've had experience with either or both of these courses, can you list some similarities and differences between the two?

Thanks everyone!

Depending on the college, you may get more credits for APUSH, the same number of credits for APUSH, or no credits at all.

I like both. APUSH DBQs are a bit less aggravating than Euro DBQs because you don’t have to think of POVs. APUSH DBQs, however, do require a considerable amount of information and facts. Well, the same goes for Euro as well.

I cannot speak for the actual classes because the only history class I’ve taken is APWH, but I almost always recommend taking the class that you have more of an interest in. If you have more interest in it, generally you will have an easier time studying and will learn more in the class.

I’ve seen that AP Euro gets you more credits in colleges.
USC doesn’t accept APUSH but accepts AP Euro, iirc.

bump bump bump bump bumppp

I took APUSH as a freshman & am taking Euro now. I liked APUSH a lott more (I also happen to have an awful AP Euro teacher) and while it really is a matter of what you find interesting, my vote is for APUSH.

APUSH was the best class ever!! There’s a lot more information than AP Euro, but a lot of it is familiar because US history is taught from elementary school. With AP Euro, almost all the info is new. There are sooo many monarchs. It gets confusing.
APUSH moves faster so you won’t get bored. AP Euro moves to different places during the same era because it’s covering the history of all of Europe and it begins to feel like you’ve been on a single topic forever.
i love history, but APUSH was a better experience for me. My sister took both in one year and she scored a 5 in APUSH and a 3 in AP Euro.
As far as the tests go, Idk about the MC but the DBQs are sooo different. The APUSH DBQ is harder! AP Euro’s doesn’t even require much outside info. Essays seem pretty similar…I guess.

Im taking AP Euro. It might be more interesting to you since its something never taught in middle school or elementary school

I strongly recommend looking up a few universities you are interested in for their AP credit policy. (at least a big state school)

Just searching “university of xyz ap credit policy” should find it for you.

Also, you should try to find general education requirements for that school. Most places will require 2 semesters of US history for everyone, while euro is very rarely going to be required.

@ctswim… since you are going to Hopkins, don’t worry so much about what you are going to do in junior and senior year, just make sure you have the basic classes (you have another 2-3 years to change what you will do in junior and senior year) this schedule is not your final schedule. You fill this schedule out every year for the next school year… but since you asked, i personally think AP Euro would be more interesting, but if you take APUS you can take the SAT subject test… it depends. you can figure it out in the coming years…

Hope this helps
