<p>So I begin school in a days and I am signed up for AP European History. I don't know if I want to take it. History isn't one of my favorite subjects and there is so much work in the class. I know that if I take regular global I will be bored but it won't be as stressful. What should I do?</p>

<p>I don’t know how AP Euro is at your school. The class itself wasn’t that hard when I took it last year, but the AP Test was extremely hard. I ended up getting an A both semesters though.</p>
<p>Yes Ap Euro is very hard! Especially if you are doing sports but if you put in the work now, it ll be a win win for you really. It would look good on your college application, increases your GPA and you won’t have to take history in college at least for pre reqs. I considered droopping all of my AP classes at one point or the other but I’m glad i didnt because now I get to skip almost my entire freshman year & I graduate in 5 semesters as opposed to 8. </p>
<p>AP Euro varies in difficulty from school to school, like any AP class. Best way to find out would be to ask kids who are in / have taken the class.</p>
<p>Yeah, AP history classes I think are the most extreme example in difficulty can vary from school to school/teacher to teacher.</p>
<p>I’ve had my cousins who live a few hours away from me tell me how horrible AP Euro and AP US history was, how they got an hour of homework a night, they had a test every week, they had DBQ’s and FRQ’s up the a$$ and how they worked hours on end to only get a C in the class. Then at my school AP Euro (And so far AP US) we had to do flashcards and a chapter/unit outline once every two weeks. The tests were curved and all multiple choice. You got 15% added to your final if you took the AP Exam (You could also get the bonus points if you did an alternate assignment if you didn’t take the exam)</p>
<p>However, most people did poorly on the AP Exam. 72 students took the exam at my school, nobody got a 5, Two students got a 4 (They also happen to be the #1 and #2 class ranks) and Fourteen students got a 3 (I was one of them) and the other fifty-six students got either a 2 or a 1. So clearly the material wasn’t covered as well as it could have been, but the point being is that every class can be easy or difficult depending on the teacher, but AP History classes are the only classes I know of that are commonly the easiest AP Course or the hardest AP Course offered at a school. </p>
<p>AP Euro is interesting. I’m way more of a STEM person, but I thoroughly enjoyed the content of AP Euro. How it’s taught, that’s a different story…</p>
<p>Like all the other posters, the difficulty does vary from school to school. I’d suggest you go to the class and listen to the teacher describe the class (usually they’ll also talk about the work load. Mine did.) and then see if it’s a good fit for you. If not, then just drop the class. </p>
<p>I want to major in the genetics and the rest of my day is jam packed. I am taking all honors and have lunch every other day. </p>
<p>I took AP Euro last year as a soph and tbh the class was extremely difficult. The average score on tests was ~50% with the top score usually being around a 70% (although we were allowed test corrections for half credit back.) There was a lot of homework and the AP exam sucked. We had around 90 kids take it and the score distribution was 1 ‘5’, 4 ‘4s’, 26 ‘3s’ and the rest were 1’s and 2’s (I remember the teacher said the pass rate was only 44%).</p>
