AP European History Curve?

What do you guys think it's going to be like this year? I thought on average, the exam was harder than previous years (tough MC, harder/more obscure DBQ than last year, difficult FRQs), so I'm hoping the curve will be more generous.

I Really hope it will be, although I thought the MC wasn’t to bad (easier than the princeton review questions though). You’re right about the DBQ = what??? But i’m pretty sure I pwned the FRQ’s.

FRQ: Id did 4 and 5, Pretty straightforward but I think I got a little off topic on 4

Yes the DBQ was pretty hard, I did good on one FRQ (4) and ended up almost completely BSing my other one (7).

Could someone clarify?
Is it right to say, no matter how hard the test is, one should get 114+ to get a 5 (AP pass)?

^Not really, the 2009 Test was the only one we know of where the curve was that lenient for a 5. On older exams, it’s been a 121-180 for a 5.

ohhhhhhhhhhh. What do you think of today’s exam? Hard, average or easy?

The M.C. was DEFINITELY more difficult this year than previous year.

I’ve taken many M.C. tests ranging from 1992 to 1999, and I think a 2004 one as well. I’ve consistently scored 60+/80… let’s just say for this one, I will be lucky if I get over a 50/80. :-(

That’s why I hope for a very nice curve. Because I completely rocked the essays and DBQ (Especially number 7), but I feel I messed up on the M.C.

what was the curves for 5,4,3,2, and 1 last year?

I thought the DBQ was hard. Although, I’m surprised. I was skeptical of the crash course at first, so I studied other stuff also, but it does seem like a lot of questions are recycled, and the crash course was pretty accurate.

I hope the curve will be very generous this year because the multiple choice and the DBQ were hard. But, like always, I managed to get through the DBQ and I’m pretty sure I got a 9. But idk about that multiple choice…

I disagree on the DBQ. I thought it was reallllly easy. Anyone who has even taken a general history course (not even AP) or has studied the subject in question even a little tiny bit would’ve had background knowledge. The MC was by far harder than anything else on the test, and even that wasn’t bad.

^Do you think my groupings for the DBQ were ok? They were Democratic Party, Social Democrat/Nazis, Writers/Novelists and Women. I thought they were good yesterday, but now I feel like they don’t really answer the question. I talked about their views on the instabilities of the Republic in question.

The reason it was instable was due to a lack of unity and more specifically due to everybody wanting reforms (reform from within and reform by overthrowing). I can’t wait to talk more about this after the 48 hours are up, but I think you’re ok especially since you went with greater than the required number of groupings and seemed to cohesively answer the question. Seriously, I lucked out big time because the DBQ hit the topic I have been studying since I was little, rather than some random King Charles in the 1500s.

^Thanks, I’m a bit relieved now. You’ve been studying this topic since you were little? I was familiar with it as well, but it was still pretty obscure to others.

Yeah. I’ll explain why I’ve studied it since I was little when the 48 hours are up. But for me, the DBQ was the easiest part of the exam (that and the Section C Essay.) Essentially it made me relieved I spent my time preparing more for my other three AP exams because I was able to navigate thru this one pretty well and hopefully get the 4 I need for credit at UMich.

For the DBQ I used social, political, and economic. Do you think I could get the core point for grouping with these?

sure, if you had at least 2 documents in each grouping, discussed the majority of the documents, didn’t misinterpret more than one, had an EXPLICIT thesis, and discussed bias or POV in at least 3 documents. There is no one right answer to DBQs that’s why I like them (that is if you don’t misinterpret the douments).

You don’t need to know outside info to get a 9 on your DBQ. That’s only one of the many points on the expanded core (there are 5 and they only count 3). You can write a DBQ without having studied a thing about the topic and still get a 9. I did that on my mock test which was or final exam AKA the real test for 1999 :/). That is, if you don’t msinterpret the documents. That’s why I think even though the DBQ was really obscure for me (of course I know what “the topic it was over” is but what I meant by hard is that I didn’t study details about it but I was still able to squeeze out some outside info) I’m pretty sure I got a 9. And that is why I LOVE DBQs and hate FRQs  .

Indeed, though I used a chronological grouping. I felt that made my essay more organized.
