AP European History vs AP US Government

Hello everyone!

My name is Jules and I am a Sophomore in high school. I just signed up for my classes for next year. I am thinking of switching from AP European History to AP US Government since that is one class that the United States Military Academy suggests I take before applying. I also signed up for three other AP classes so I am looking to lighten the load a little bit.

I was wondering if anyone could give me any insight into 1) the homework load, 2) how much reading there is per night/week 3) how interesting you thought the class was.

Thank you!

@Jules699 AP Gov is probably one of the easier AP classes I’ve taken, and the homework wasn’t too bad. I also thought it was much more interesting, but that’s just me; I’m more of a law/politics kind of person.

AP euro looks better and its more collage based

Atleast at my high school, AP Gov is generally much easier than AP Euro. Currently, as an AP Gov student myself, I maybe have at most 1-2 hours of HW per week, and generally its just chapter outlines and vocabulary. Though it’s an easy workload, I still really enjoy the class; rather than the typical History classes, since this is about politics, there is much more debate and discussion involved.

Also, since it seems you want to go to West Point and AP Gov is a recommended , I would take Gov next year. You can always take Euro senior year.

Thank you so much to you all. This really helped. It seems like AP Government is the way to go. I do enjoy debating topics and the USMA does recommend that potential applicants take this course before or while applying.
