AP European History?

Exactly how hard is the AP European History Exam? Is the Free Response Section hard? Please tell me what you though and your scores (if they were good). I am kinda worried about taking it!

The test is easy as well as the class. I made a 5, and i didnt even really pay all that much attention in class! Dont be worried, its deff. an easy class!

Did you use any review books? Which ones are the best?

AP Euro is the "break-in" AP at my school. Most of the sophomores on the honors track take it. We have a good number of people pass the test, but our teacher is excellent.

You get one mandatory DBQ (easier than the USH one), and then you have two essays where you can choose from three prompts. It's not too bad for a Free Response section, but the course covers social, political, cultural, and economic development, so the essays can vary. Check out some of the past FRQs on the collegeboard site for an idea.

Of the 5 people whose scores I know, I've seen 2 5s, 2 4s, and a 2.

As far as review books go, my class used the version for the class from REA, I believe it was. I still havent gotten my scores yet, so I couldn't tell you how effective it was, but it was pretty good for studying for the exam.

I read the textbook (assigned reading) and took some brief notes for review later on. I also bought the Barrons & PR book. Barrons for MC/Overview. PR for details/FRQ section. I scored a 5.

I used Barrons!

at my school AP euro is widely considered a joke, since the teacher allows you to turn in projects weeks late, no points off. the majority of students rarely complete any assignments on time since there's no worry of a penalty. despite the slack nature of the class, our school still does remarkably well on the AP euro exam with something like 95% or all scores being 4s or 5s. So yeah, AP euro is easy.

also, for anyone who took the exam this year, what was up with that DBQ? the entire gym full of students laughed when we read the prompt.

Some people skip AP US History for the sophmore year and take that instead. I would think it's easier than AP US History.

at my school, you can only take euro senior year (and only take APUSH junior year) so only seniors can take euro. i didn't find it too difficult, but i really loved the class. the DBQs and free responses are much more open ended than US. but its a huge time period to cover, and remember...

AP Euro covers SO MUCH material and a lot of it was totally new to me, but it's a really interesting class, and really not that bad. The thing I found the hardest was trying to keep monarchs/wars/treaties etc all striaght; they can start to run together after a while! But I'm sure you'll be fine as long as you study and get a good review book and stuff. Good luck!

Both the history exams that count for credit (US and Euro, World isn't accepted at a lot of places) are pretty easy. The DBQ's and essays can be tricky, but the MC are so easy it makes up for the FR. It's pointless to ask about how hard the class is because obviously everybody here goes to a different school.
