I figured the best way to get an answer to this question is by contacting somebody at CSUN directly, but I wanted some opinions here first. CSUN’s website has a chart showing which classes each AP exam grants credit for (all with score 3 or higher - link: https://catalog.csun.edu/policies/advanced-placement-ap-credit/). I wanted to major in psychology. One of the major requirements is a class called Math 140, and this class also satisfies the math general education requirement. I have the AP Stats exam under my belt, and AP Stats gives credit for this Math 140 class. But the page (link above) also says “Note that course equivalencies often cannot be accepted for students majoring in the AP exam subject area.” Does this mean I can or can’t get credit for Math 140? I’m unsure if it means you can’t use AP exam credit for your major requirements, or if you can’t use it for your major requirement IF the exam and major are the same subject (which math and psychology are not obviously). Any thoughts?
According to the AP chart linked, you can use it to fulfill both areas since you are not a Stats major but a Psychology major. You will get credit for Math 140 based on the AP chart of CSUN.
