AP EXAM CRISIS PLEASE HELP

Okay so…

I am a high school senior that will be attending the University of Michigan in the fall, and I am in the process of taking AP exams.

So last week I took the AP chem and AP Calc BC exams. I feel like I completely bombed both. Maybe not so bad chem (it was a total mistake taking that one. My current Chem class was dual credit but not AP, so a lot of the material on the test I had not learned. Also had a bad proctor that couldn’t do math and gave us ten fewer minutes on free response than we should have gotten)

As for calculus, I know I COMPLETELY FAILED it. I literally had no idea what I was doing. In the class, I got a 90 last semester, and this semester I am currently at a 91. So I’m not a bad student or anything, I’m just not a math person. The thing was for a lot of the tests I sort of memorized all the material to get an A and then once the test was over I forgot the material. So it’s sort of my fault for not prepping better or learning the material well.

So my question is- will my application be rescinded for failed AP exams?? I am taking Physics C tomorrow and that will likely be another disaster. I am also taking US government, English Lang, MicreoEcon, and Latin this week and I think I should pass all those. I have been freaking out all weekend though and don’t know if I should just cancel my scores or what. I did not indicate for the AP people to send my scores to my college at the pre registration, so I do not have to send them in. But I want to send scores from last year (4 AP Bio, 4 AP Eng Lit, 3 APUSH)

Thanks!

Relax. While I do not know UM’s specific rules, most colleges do not care what you get on APs unless you want credit. Also, if you are really embarrassed you can ask the College Board to delete certain scores after you get them.

If you want to be sure go to UM’s website and check their policy or post on their forum.

They only care about your grade for the actual AP class, so do your best to finish off the semester with at least a B. The AP test score doesn’t matter in any way other than determining whether or not you will get credit.

You might as well just indicate who to send your scores to, now that you know you will be going to umich, rather than pay $15 later. Again, the AP test scores only determine whether or not you will get credit, not the status of your admission, thus there is no risk in sending them in.

FWIW, my daughter was sure she bombed the AP Calc AB exam a couple years ago and got a 5. She said the whole time she was taking it she was sure she was failing. And she’s not one to feel like that. My younger daughter also said this year the AP Calc kids were all complaining after the exam. So you never know!

And at any rate, what the other posters here have said is true: U of M will not care about your test score.
