My school doesn’t offer AP or IB Level courses so I self-study the exams myself.
I do so only for subjects I really love, so far that has been World History, Macroecon, and Us GOPO.
This year I want to take the exams for Microecon and Comp Gov but I’m wondering if the overlap
will hurt me in admissions.
I’m a junior and next year I’ll be applying to HYPS.
Thanks!
AP scores do not factor into college admissions. All these AP tests you are taking will not help you gain admissions. They only help you get college credit to skip classes.
^^Um, that is NOT necessarily true.
If a student DOES send in or mentions AP scores on his applications, the admissions officers will see them and they may take them into account. A 1-2 on an AP test may hurt, and 5’s may help. No once knows.
Admissions decisions at the top colleges are opaque- a black box that no one can see into.
The only thing that is certain is at those colleges admissions officers are looking for students they can reject, since there are so many “qualified” applicants.
Thanks for your replies guys. Would anyone else want to weight in on this topic?
More specifically I want to ask, assuming that AP scores are used in admission, will subject overlap (such as AP Econ Macro and Micro or Comp Gov and Us GOPO) diminish the benefit of the score?
