So here the Dilemma: I want to take some AP science and Math classes, but AP classes like Bio, Chem, and Physics are two periods for one class out of an 8 period schedule so if I take one of these classes then I am limited to the amount of classes I want to take. And when it comes to math classes, once you start from Algebra Honors you go through Geo Honors to Algebra II/ Trig then Pre-Calc Honors with no skipping ahead to AP Calc, unless you started from Geo Honors, which was not me. So my question is, what would colleges think if you self-studied for AP exams, your school offers as classes that you did not take? Do you mention this somewhere in the college application?

Or should I just take SAT Subject tests

Bump…!

Self-studying shows you’re motivated outside of the classroom. However, it isn’t incredibly helpful. You’ll only mention it when you self-report your AP scores.

You should seriously consider taking an AP science even if it is double blocked. Chem and Physics in particular look very good on an application.

Did you go to BG lol?

I managed to fit Bio, Chem, Physics, and Calc into my last two years. Senior year was quite the joke since I only had 4 classes due to Chem and Physics eating up 4 out of the 6 available periods. Since AP Chem becomes easier and easier year after year I think you might be able to self study that one. Physics and Biology on the other hand are too much work. Another option would be attending a community college in the summers to get math or whatever you are interested in done. Btw SAT subject tests are a total waste unless you are planning on going on to some school, normally some highly tiered school, that requires it for engineering admission. I’m not so they helped me as much as grades, ECs and essays. I found them rather stressful since I went for all 800s.
