AP Exams 2020 DON'T allow self-studying??

Guys. I’m highkey freaking out now. This year, to register you need to sign up for any AP exams you want to take on the AP Classroom thing. However, you can only sign up with a code, so you need to be enrolled in the course.

I’m planning on self-studying like 6 APs this year, so if this is actually what the deal is I am highkey screwed. Any help?

There’s a way around it; your AP Coordinator can register you via an exam-only section of AP Classroom if s/he wants. Read the last 3 words carefully.

With the advent of AP Classroom and the early registration for exams, many schools are now not allowing students to register for the exam without the corresponding course. And your example is the poster child of why. Self studying 6 AP exams? Why? SMH.

So you can ask you AP Coordinator. If that fails, you can ask AP Coordinators at neighboring schools. You may have no success, because a school is not obligated to order an exam if you’re not taking the class. You may luck out, but if not - their school, their rules.

Well that just really stinks for homeschoolers.

Homeschoolers would be different from students enrolled in the school who are “self studying” on top of workload - their home is their school.

Of course. I meant if you can’t take the test outside an official course- which is what many homeschoolers do.

Ouch that hurt. Anyways, thank you very much for the feedback. What do you think I should do this year instead?

@skieurope like extracirriculars and what not.

You should do extracurriculars and whatnot.

Being serious though, you should do things that interest you, or, if you really have that much free time, get a job. I don’t know of any college that doesn’t like to see kids with jobs, as long as it doesn’t interfere with school work.

Joins some clubs. Go outside and throw a ball. Volunteer. If you’re old enough, get a job. Something. Anything. I can’t imagine that a HS student taking a rigorous courseload in school has that much free time to self study 6 APs. But if that’s the case, be aware that no college, at least not in the top tier, are going to jump up and down with excitement over a one-dimensional academic grind. Expand your horizons.

@Lindagaf @skieurope aight thank you very much for all of your help. Greatly appreciated
