Hey guys!

I have a few questions that's been bothering me for quite a while.
So, I've been debating whether or not I should take IB or AP and I'm leaning towards the IB side. I needa make a decision by next week.
I have some questions regarding the tests though.
1. Can I take the AP English Language & Composition test if I take IB English HL 1? (I already know that I can take the AP English Literature & Composition test if I take IB English HL 2 though)
2. Can I take the AP Chemistry exam with IB Chemistry SL with some self studying? Will all the topics in IB Chemistry SL be covered if I take AP Chemistry instead?
3. Does IB Physics HL 1 go with AP Physics 1 and does IB Physics HL 2 go with AP Physics 2? (I heard AP Physics 1 and AP Physics 2 will replace AP Physics B next year)
4. Can I self study topics for the AP Chinese Language & Culture exam if I take IB Mandarin SL?
5. Is there an AP class that would correlate with IB History SL?
Bonus Question: AP vs. IB? Which one do colleges look at more favorably than the other? How hard is IB? What do you do in Theory of Knowledge? How is the Extended Essay and how did you do CAS?

You don't have to answer all of this! Just answers to the ones you guys already know would be awesome!

Thank you!

I’m taking IB next year, but this is what I’ve heard and other stuff:

You could take the IB English exams for the AP Eng exams
I’m pretty sure IB Chem SL won’t be enough for AP Chem. If you really want to take the AP exam, you could try to self-study along with the IB class. Idk.
For IB Physics HL, do you know if it’s algebra-based or calculus-based? Because at my school, we have IB physics SL and they take the AP Physics B exam. If IB Physics HL is Calc-based, I think it would correspond better with the Physics C exams? But if you really want to do the AP physics 1/2 exam, then go ahead.
I’m not sure about mandarin.
The AP class that best corresponds with IB History is APUSH. My social studies teachers have told me some people in IB History of the Americas take the APUSH exam, but they have to study more stuff because IB HoA doesn’t only focus on North America.

That’s just my input.

For the bonus question, colleges view AP and IB the same. But in my honest opinion, I feel like IB is more favorable if you do the Diploma. I’m not trying to say AP doesn’t prepare you for colleges well, but IB is very writing-intensive and including the extra requirements like CAS and the EE can really prepare you for college-level stuff. My IB coordinator said that a few years ago, he knew this girl who went to my school and went for the diploma but she didn’t get it. But she told him that because of IB, her first year of college was a piece of cake, or something like that.

Thanks for the input ^.^
