I'm a bit confused about how AP exams affect admissions- my school doesn't offer many APs so I'm taking them for the first time this year. Let's say that hypothetically I receive a 1 on all of my exams. Will this affect my offer for admission to NYU in any way? Do they even care what my scores are? Can I simply not indicate NYU as the school to send scores to on the day of the exam and then send scores later if I receive good marks?

reporting ap scores are optional. you don't send your official ap scores unless you are going to attend a school, otherwise there's usually a spot on your application to schools for optional ap scores. and nyu will know your school doesn't offer many aps so they will know you didn't have a chance to take 10 ap classes like a lot of other kids on CC.

I guess I should clarify.. I've been accepted to NYU and will attend. Is reporting scores still optional?

i have the exact same question about reporting the scores next year (im a junior and my school offers no ap's)

if I get a horrible score on an AP test and I have already committed to a school could they rescind admission?

or what if i took the AP class but im not going to take the test?

AP scores don't affect admissions.

I'll be honest, I didn't do well on my AP tests... I got 1s on both of the ones I took so far (there were reasons though - don't worry). I got into Stern.

I'm taking two more this year and I expect to do well.

do you guys know if it's possible to cancel specific scores? or is it all or nothing?

"if I get a horrible score on an AP test and I have already committed to a school could they rescind admission?"

Yeah, this is what I'm wondering. Will NYU rescind my admittance if I do badly? (I've committed to attend) Is it necessary to even send scores to NYU if they're not going to earn you any credits?

NYU will not rescind your admission based on AP scores. But a bad gpa could do the job.
You don't even need to send in the scores to NYU.

you dont have to send in scores if you won't receive credit [4s or 5s] and you can choose to send certain scores and withhold others [for a fee] etc.

According to the NYU site, AP scores do not affect admission, nor will they rescind your application based on poor grades. (You just won't get credit for them).

hey..i know im butting into this thread and im sorry, but im a little worried about NYU possibly taking back their offer of admission. I sent in my deposit to CAS, but im worried about poor second semester grades affecting their decision. They only see semester grades...so the lowest one of those will be a C in calculus (use to be a B) and POSSIBLY a C+ in biology...but other than that all B's maybe 1 A....anyways...my question is...how badly do i have to do for them to withrawal their offer of admission. Any thoughts would be appreciated...thanks
Paul
