AP Exams

Hello everyone.

I am a Canadian student who applied to several ivy league schools. On my common application I self-reported that I would be writing AP exams in May 2010. It goes without saying that I want to write AP exams in order to get credit for those courses. However, my chances for admission seem really slim (even more now due to my midyear report). See, the programs I applied to in Canada do not offer credit for AP exams. So if the ivy league doesn't work out for me, there really is no point in writing them. The thing is, the deadline for my school to order AP exams is March 26 and offers of admission are given on April 1. In my opinion, studying for AP exams is too much work and requires too much time if I'm not going to get anything for them.

So basically, my question is this: what will happen if I am admitted to one of those ivy league schools but do not write AP exams? Will they take issue with this?

Wait, i don’t get the wording, you want to “write” ap exam? or take it?
Anyways.

If you feel like ivy leagues are not even a reach for you, then don’t do it,
since no one would care about what you write on your apps if you are not accepted.

But if you feel like you have a diminutive chance of getting in (no offense, but regarding current circumstances, a Canadian has to be VERY GOOD to get into an ivy league school, and i don’t think that description fits how you described yourself.) an ivy league school, then you must do it. If you somehow made into one, and they found out you do not take the AP exams that you claimed you would, it will definitely jeopardize your acceptance(most likely, they will turn you down).

“In my opinion, studying for AP exams is too much work and requires too much time if I’m not going to get anything for them.”

I think maybe you should rethink your application to the Ivy League. If you don’t want to work on AP’s, how do you expect to do the Ivy coursework?

I suggest taking the AP tests.
