AP exemption, but no lab credits

So I've noticed that for Physics and Chemistry, if you've gotten a 4 or a 5, you get exempted from that class. But from what I know, you don't get a lab credit for that class. Is it possible to take just the lab class without taking the actual Physics or Chemistry class with it? Is the lab completely separate from the "notes taking" class? Would you have to take tests if you're just taking the lab?

The lecture and lab are separate for this very reason. I believe there are separate lab quizzes or notebook grades or something like that in addition to lab work, but the tests are in the lecture.

For chem but not physics you can submit your lab notebook from AP chem for credit.

^ You don’t get lab credit, you are exempt if your lab notebook is accepted upon review. A small but important difference.
