I took the french AP language test last year. The language test tests on your listening, speaking, writing, and reading comprehension, and grammar (you need to conjugate verbs and add in connecting words like "que, ce que, qui, ainsi, etc.." of french. I dont know much about the literature test...as my schools french program isn't particularty strong, but i think its more for people who are very very very very fluent in French.. I would think the language test is easier.. since that's the one I took, and the one my school teaches.. with again..a kinda subpar program. But if you're pretty fluent at french or decent at it, The language test shouldn't be a problem.

One caveat about the language test: native speakers take it, and thus make the curve difficult for everyone else. I'm not making this up out of bitterness; I got a 4. This is just a known fact.

hm.. i guess i was wrong.. hah. sorry. i never had much experince with the literature test.... my school never taught it. we only teach to the language curriculum. so i guess it depends on what you're more confortable with i passed too, a 3 though, higher than i expected.. pass rate had been 0 at my school for a while.. but i remebered this site from college board that you might find useful, http://www.collegeboard.com/student/testing/ap/subjects.html just go to the subject you;re looking for and it gives you statistics.

The french lit test seems a lot like the english lang test, at least for the FRQ's. You are given a list of books, plays, short stories (I think), and poems. You read those (REALLY?!?!) and then you have to write essays. I would have loved to do this, but my french sucks. French lit takers get off easy. There are only a couple of works (<10) that are required, but the Spanish lit test has more than 50 works. Only a couple thousand take french lit.
