AP French or Symphony Orchestra?

I have a dilemma about scheduling for next year. Because of stringent school requirements, I must choose between taking AP French or continuing in Symphony Orchestra.

Some Background:
I'm going to be a senior next year and I'm planning on applying to the University of Michigan, Wayne State (MedStart), Michigan State (Lyman Briggs), Harvard, U Penn, Brown, and Stanford.

Also, the AP french program at my school is not the greatest, with an average teacher and a class combined with those taking French 4. My school's symphony orchestra, on the other hand, is nationally renowned and has recorded and played with professionals. Also, if I drop out of it next year, I'll miss all the privileges that come with being a senior. However, I've also taken French for the last four years, so I don't know if it's wise to drop out of it now.

I like both subjects equally, so it mainly comes down to what looks better for colleges. Are any of the listed colleges strict about four years of foreign language? (I took French I in middle school, so I technically only have 3 years of french in high school.)

My courseload next year is tough, with 4 other AP classes (Bio, Calc BC, Eng. Lit., & Euro).

Thanks!

Honestly, I would say pick the class you’d be more committed to/proud of more. It seems like you have great commitment to your orchestra, and with that coupled with the strength of your AP French program… I’d choose orchestra. I’ve been in orchestra all four years of high school and have 4 APs right now, and I don’t really think there’s an extra “boost” if you take another AP instead of music.

I got into Brown, but as you will learn, admissions can be quite random.

What chippedtea said, minus the “I got into Brown” part.

“Also, the AP french program at my school is not the greatest, with an average teacher and a class combined with those taking French 4.”
so are you already in a class with French AP students?
How many APs will you have taken by the time you graduate? Does your school offer AP Music theory? I suggest you take the French non listening subject test in May or June, and go with Orchestra next year. Would you be able to have some sort of Leadership position in Orchestra- first violin, that sort of thing that you can put on your applications?
