Hi,
I'm learning German from scratch over this summer and was wondering what would be the best resources to do so in order to be prepared for the AP exam in two years? I've heard of stuff like Teach Yourself, but don't know which course to use.

Thanks!

I went to Germany last summer with this program: http://www.did.de/german-courses/index.php5?id=279&L=1

It was amazing. I went with no knowledge of German. I was the only American in the entire school, so I got to hang out with Russians, Swiss, Spanish, and at least 20 other nationalities all day. (Trust me, that was fun) I was there for 6 weeks. It was basically the best thing I have ever done in my life. Anyway, when I got back, I went right into AP German, and I am taking the AP test in about 2 weeks. It is still hard, especially since my German teacher is not too good, and I think I have forgotten a lot over the course of the year. But, I am expecting to get a 4. Maybe I can get a 5, it depends. I am kind of borderline 4-5. Getting a 5 is REALLY hard. But, if I had stayed in Germany for maybe about 3-4 months, I could get a 5 easily.

Anyway, if you are really interested in learning German, you should definitely do what I did. It is an experience that I will never forget.

PM me if you want more information about this.

Also, you can just do a full year or semester exchange to a German Gymnasium (High School) like I am planning on doing.

EDIT:

Yeah, just to let you know, I am pretty good at languages, especially grammar, and I went with a few grammar books, and in my free time, I studied grammar a ton. The more work you put into this program, the more you will learn, its all up to you.
