yoooo I just got the first test of the year back and I bombed it (got a B). The problem was that I couldn't find/memorize all the details for the test, so I missed 4 questions out of 24. What can I do to pull my grade back up? Right now I'm sitting at a B+. I already asked my AP Gov teacher for help sessions once or twice a week.

Okay. Yakisoba. Stop.

A B is not “bombing it.” A D or F is bombing it. Seriously. It could have been way worse. The majority of the kids in my APUSH class got pretty low grades on our first test. I am more than content with my B on the test. You should be too, unless like everyone got A’s.

It’s the first test of the year. It takes some time to get used to the class; figure out what you did wrong and the types of questions you’re missing.

Oh, and breathe.

A B is not bombing it. That’s so ridiculous.

Its only one test.

Hater count: 2

Yakisoba, get some perspective. They’re not haters - they’re right. You didn’t do as well as you had hoped to do. That does not equate to “bombing” the test. Poor baby got a B, it’s the end of the world! So this is the hardest class you’ve taken so far, get used to it. You are a high school student, and you are taking what is supposed to be equivalent to a college level course - it’s supposed to be hard

When I got a B on an APUSH test, I used to do cartwheels in my mind.

Haters gonna hate
Potatoes gonna potate

I stopped reading your first post after that.

Oh Yakisoba you.

I actually have a gov test coming up Monday. It’s been such a long week. I should make sure I review my notes before going to sleep today.

I’m over the test FYI, just need help on how to an A/A+ by the end of the semester

Put more time into studying or develop different methods for studying/reviewing.

just wondering, for ap gov (and all other ap’s), what matters more: the grade in the class or the AP Exam score?

…liiiike?

The grade in the class matters more.

The material learned matters most.

I always have some type of notes or reading to do for homework in this class. I’ll take notes for some time, If I stop to take a break I’ll read over them before I continue and I’ll read over them again once I’m done along with any other free time I might have during the day. When I read over my notes, I make sure I highlight or underline whatever I think is important so I’ll remember it better. For studying, I’ll generally go over my notes and talk through the material to make sure I have atleast a general understanding of it. If I find that there’s something I have a hard time remembering, then I’ll make a flashcard for it to review later. Whether we have a quiz or test coming up or not, I’ll make an effort to go over whatever material I have atleast once a day. The more I review, the more I’ll remember it better. It seems time consuming but sometimes we just have to put in some more effort to do better in school. Everyone is different so it might take awhile for you to find what’s best for you.

Nothing matters. Life is meaningless.

But yeah, actually retaining the material matters the most. lol.

Did you ever think that maybe you just need to get used to the class and test format? It was your first test, so it’ll take a little bit to get used to the way the questions are asked and whatnot.

^Oooo, that’s a good one.

Calm yourself. First of all, it’s just one test (that you didn’t bomb…this is AP government for the sake of all things academic. It’s not like you’re taking Basic Hygiene 101). Second of all, contrary to popular belief, school should be about learning rather than grades. Grades are important, but in the end the knowledge gained is what’s going to matter the most. Third of all, we can’t give advice because we don’t know how your tests are structured, the book you’re using, your teacher’s temperament, or how you learn best…this is something that you’ll have to work out for yourself.

Best of luck (:

okay, so the next unit is about interest groups, PACs, FEC reforms/laws, hard/soft money, super PACs, etc. Basically Political Efficacy. How can I study for these topics specifically?
