AP Government and Community College

I'm currently taking AP gov. and I plan to take political science at a Community college.
What is the AP government equivalence to a College course?
would it be unnecessary to take poli sci?

“Political Science” is the field in which AP Gov is a part of, but AP US Gov only studies the US Government part of political science.

“Introduction to American Politics” or some variant of it is a generic title for the course equivalent to AP U.S. Government. It’s probably the first thing listed in the catalog under the political science departments at most CCs. “Introduction to Comparative Politics” or some variant is probably the course equivalent to AP Comparative Government.

You should check the policies for the college/university you plan to attend to determine if you should take a course that corresponds to the same material as the AP course and exam. Some may give you course and/or GE credit, and others might not. It’s pretty safe to assume that you will get credit most places, though, if you take the CC course.
