does it look bad if you are the top history student in your grade, got a 5 on the AP US History exam, and a 760 on the SAT2 US History, BUT are taking AP US Gov't INSTEAD of AP European History?

well, since Govt/civics is a requirement for Calif HS graduation, the short answer is no, assuming you have 4 other academic solids.

Why would it look bad? AP Govt is harder to get transfer credit for. AP Gov is a half-year course according to the CB while Euro is a year. However, I wouldn't stress it.

D did just that. No problem - starting at Amherst this fall.

I think AP Govt looks fine. If you want to be nitpicky, AP Euro is generally considered the hardest AP social studies (and it is more interesting, so given the option, I'd go with Euro).

Don't stress it and take Govt if you want.

My D is going to take AP Gov...she loves that stuff...after ap american history...

She is doing a JSA program right now at Georgetown...and doing APGov at this very moment (not for credit)...loving it

My daughter WANTED to take AP Modern Euro, but there was a conflict in her schedule so she is taking AP Government instead. She's not happy, but it will work.

thumper1, i'm having the same problem as your daughter. it's very annoying.

fire2006,
I don't think you need to be concerned. If you are truly fretting, your GC could not that a scheduling conflict prevented your taking AP Euro. Sorry it didn't work in your schedule - my son took it senior year and enjoyed it tremendously.
