AP human geo. question

Hi! Im self studying APHG this year and want to know how important it is to know world maps. (i have a friend at another school taking it and she said they have map tests) any help from anyone who has taken the class/test? Thanks!

I took hgap exam in 2010, and the only maps you have to know are those of religion and trade.

Its important but you’re not going to be tested on the map but it helps to know the locations and general groupings like SE Asia, East asia, West asia etc. Because countries are generalized like that in some texts. Plus it will benefit you in the long run when you’re trying to comp rend information.

No not really, I took it 2011 w/out the class and got a (5). Just know the maps in Barron’s review book. Not all of them ofcourse though! But some maps on the APHG 2011 test were EXACTLY the same in barrons 3rd edition. Hope this helps! Good Luck!

I agree with rfav32! I took it in 2011 and got a 5 as well. You don’t need to memorize the location of every country and every capital city and blah blah blah–honestly, that doesn’t really matter–just know your regions and where you are in the world! Sometimes they generalize characteristics of regions so you should know where major countries are located.

P.S. don’t stress too much about APHG, it is seriously a piece of cake! You will do great! :)

In APHG, when you study a concept, know a few examples, know why they’re good examples and then know the locations of those examples. Move on to the next concept…
