I am currently a sophomore and I am taking AP Human Geography this year. My teacher gave a diagnostic and I got a 12/30 on it. I know I shouldn’t worry because we haven’t learned anything yet and it is a diagnostic. But I want to ask if that is good for not learning anything yet?? I took the first half of global studies (up to the Enlightenment). And for about 85% of the questions I answered correctly, used reason and what made sense.

Also, about how hard is it to get a 5. If someone can estimate for me, I’d greatly appreciate it :D

I think the course is going to be interesting. The books we are using are:
-Human Geography in Action 4th Edition by Kuby, Harner, and Gober
-Cultural Landscape 10th Edition by Rubenstein

Thanks!!

Yeah, I took AP Human Geography last year as a freshman and it was my first AP> A lot of people say that it is an easy AP, but for most people you can’t just wake up, not study, and get a 5 on the test, unlike some people here on CC. The class is interesting and if there is anything I have learned is that;
- Understand the models (there’s almost always a model FRQ)
- Understand the vocab. Vocab is an enormous part of this course

Hope I helped and good luck!

Yea, my teacher told us there’s a lot of vocab. Told us to get about 400 index cards :<

How far are you in your year? For us, it’s barely the first 2-3 weeks of school. If the diagnostic test is supposed to test everything for HG, I wouldn’t sweat it.

Well, with no disregard to you or any other posters, Human Geography is known to be a pretty easy AP test. I’m currently self-studying it using Barron’s, and looking through the guide and from what I’ve read, it works pretty well.
The class itself can vary from teacher to teacher though.

It was the 3rd day of school yesterday and we haven’t started any units yet, just generally discussed was Human Geography is. Thanks guys, it looks like I’ll have a good time in the class this year :D
