The FRQs were pretty good this year imo. Couple of MCs that I didn’t get, but not too much. I feel good about it By the way, I took the Barrons online practice test (not timed) and more than 5 questions that were on the practice test showed up. I didn’t even finish the Barrons test, so I imagine there could have been more! Definitely recommend it for anyone looking for a practice next year.
Imo opinion this test was easier then some of the tests that my class has taken this year, by far. I’m glad the FRQs were on topics that my class was strongly focused on. (I was stressing that they might be a nit-picking FRQ, thank goodness it wasn’t). There were some MCs that I was like… WHHHAAATTT!!!, but there were some where you could make an educated guess, but also there were some where there is no way of guessing because it’s either you know it or you don’t. Like they say, they don’t expect us to know all the MCs. I’m pretty sure I didn’t get a 100% on the FRQs, but I’m kinda sure that I got a 5, a 4 minimum. It was just good that the FRQs could be answered in many ways. My teacher always said that even if the answer you gave isn’t on the rubric when they grade them, but it’s factually correct they have to give you points. Anxiety is building up until JULY! Agh.
Something I always do on multiple choice tests is count up the questions I guessed on, assume I got that number wrong, and calculate my score from there. Using the rubric from the back of the PR book, I figured that I only needed to get about 1/3 of the FRQ points to get a 5. Really fuzzy math, but I think I did really well.
I feel pretty good about it too. I was actually excpecting it to be way harder than it was. I feel like I definitely at least scored a 4, maybe even a 5. I’m just so glad they included everything I knew and none if which I didn’t.
After they release the FRQs I’ll post a little anecdote.
The only bad thing about Human Geography is that most colleges require a 5 to offer college credit.
So they’ve released the FRQs and I feel like I did pretty good, well at least as best as I could’ve during the actual exam
Okay, I’ll post my little anecdote now:
I listen to some French pop music. Not as a Francophile thing, I’m just kind of a fan.
I was making predictions on the FRQ topics and guessed that one of them would be language. That morning in the car, I said to my mom, “it’ll be funny if there’s a question about French, because then I’ll have Indila and Stromae and Cœur de Pirate stuck in my head.”
Yeah, guess who got random French pop stuck in their head while trying to write about development and its effect on infant mortality rates?
@awesomepolyglot I listen to French pop too! I also really like Stromae, and Matt Pokora and Tal are some of my other favorites.
@darkskies Ooh, you should give Indila a listen.
What’s your favorite Stromae song? Mines Tous Les Mêmes.
Indila’s pretty good, I’ve listened to her songs before and I like them. I think I really like Alors On Danse by stromae. My favorite song would probably be Envole Moi by Matt Pokora and Tal (it’s so good) @awesomepolyglot
I felt that there were SO many MC questions that were not covered, but I feel that the FRQs were pretty easy. They were answerable in many ways!
I really want somebody’s opinion. I got my AP Human Geography Exam results, and I wasn’t pleased. I was astonished when I scrolled down and saw that 3. I just found it so shocking because I studied using the Princeton Review Book, and Barron’s book as well. I’ve been studying for the exam continuously using these review books and I was pretty confident that I had a great understanding of the course. I had a 99 in the class first semester and a 108 second semester. I thought that the exam was pretty easy, especially the FRQ’s and many people in the 2016 AP Human Geo CC Forum shared the same answers as me when it came to the FRQ. In addition, I was assured that if I didn’t do excellent, at least I had to do well on the MC section. What shocked me even more is that a person in my class got a 4 on the exam even though he admitted that I knew more about the course than he does, and he exclaimed that he sure didn’t study as much as I did. P.S. Yesterday, when I was checking my scores, I had an error message saying that my AP Human Geo score was linked to another account. This baffled me because once I took the AP Exam, I created a CB account and added my AP number to only that new account. But yesterday, they said that my score was on an account that I created in middle school when I took the PSAT in middle school. That old CB account(created 2 years ago) had my current e-mail (current e-mail created 5 months ago), and had my current home address (I wasn’t living in my current address when I created the CB account in middle school). And I wasn’t the one who changed those information. In addition, that old CB account (created in middle school) was solely made to view my PSAT scores. I was wondering if it was possible that the college board matched my MC but not my FRQ with my old account, or vice versa. I’m contemplating that maybe the account mix up maybe was a factor of me getting a 3 because they possibly didn’t match up all my exam material with one account. I know that this is just AP Human Geo and that I’m still a freshman, but I’m curious to know if I had 3 in one of the easiest AP class after my best efforts, and believe me I was positive that I made at least a 4, then what does this say for the more challenging AP courses that I plan to take in the near future? What worries me even more is that I aspire to get into a well-known institution such as the prestigious Ivy Leagues or others in similar degree. And if I can barely pass an easy AP exam, what does it say for more challenging AP exam yet to come. BTW, the AP Human Geography class and the exam seemed relatively easy. What do you think? Should I rescore my exam? Or should I put all of this to the past? Sorry for the long paragraph.
@doulab I think that you should definitely get it rescored! If you believe this is a mistake, which it seems to meet that it might be, then definitely do it.
@ak2018 Have you ever heard an incident similar to this, and is it even possible to have a scoring issue because of an account problem. And is APHG worth spending $30 for?
@doulab APHG isn’t a very useful AP class so I personally wouldn’t get it rescored, but if you are 100% that you got a 5 and you want bragging rights or 2. you have money and time to spare, feel free to do it.
Getting a 5 on APHG is practically useless given that a lot of colleges don’t let you skip a course by using an AP score.
@doulab I haven’t, but it probably wouldn’t have been the first time The College Board totally messed up! It’s been days since the AP scores started being sent out and people who took classes such as AP Calc BC still have not gotten their scores due to a delay. I mean, they had ONE JOB! All they needed to do for the most part was grade a bunch of papers. I mean, I can see a delay for APUSH or AP Gov as they require some kind of written essay, but AP Calc BC?
Anyway, I would get it rescored, if it makes you feel better. It sounds like you really should’ve done well. However, I will say this. It doesn’t matter if you did well on APHUG that much as it’s not really seen a hard class. I see why you are freaking out about it, but maybe this is telling you that, if you truly deserved a 3, you can’t expect to get a 5 even if you had an A in the class. Did you get enough sleep the night before the test? Were you even the tiniest bit stressed? But really, it’s only one class. Just try again next year and don’t expect a 4 or 5 because you have an A.
@Muufeen A lot of colleges actually give credit for AP classes and allow you to skip introductory freshmen classes, if you score high enough. But you’re right. APHUG wouldn’t really earn you anything unless you plan to enter a major into geography.
I’m outside of the states, and I still didn’t get my scores…I thought it was my school’s problem but one of my friends from school received her scores. I’m pretty sure I wrote down all of my info correctly. College Board doesn’t even recognize my ap number…damn it
@doulab I would at the very least talk with TCB and sort out the problems with your two CB accounts, even if you don’t want it rescored, since that might mess up future SAT/AP scores. Otherwise, like a lot of people have said, having a 5 on APHUG doesn’t really do anything since most colleges, especially Ivies, won’t give any credit for such an easy course. Whether you want to rescore is up to you. Just keep in mind that the grade you have in your class doesn’t always correlate with an exam grade since your class’s difficulty level could be completely different, or there could be grade inflation involved. Considering the 108% you had in your second semester, it seems that grade inflation is definitely possible, which could lead to false confidence. Regardless, just know that a 3 on one exam doesn’t necessarily mean much in terms of your success in other areas. It’s still a passing grade, and while you won’t get credit for it, Ivy schools won’t look down on you for it either.
