AP Human Geography VS AP World History

In around 3 months I become a sophomore. Right now I'm in the process of registering for classes. In sophomore year I'm going to do either AP Human Geography or AP World History, and in junior or senior year I'm hoping that the social studies course I've taken will ultimately prepare me for AP US History. Which, then, is the better preparatory class? I've heard that the Human Geo class at my school a) has a good teacher and b) is easy. I've heard that the World History class at my school a) has tests and quizzes constantly and b) is confusing. Along with social studies I'm taking AP Stats (doubling up with Pre-Calc) and AP Computer Science A. Can you guys point out the pros and cons of World History VS Human Geography and generally advise me which to take? Also, is it true that the AP World History DBQs prepare you for the dreaded APUS ones? If it helps I consider myself to enjoy and be pretty good at history (got a 99 in European History last semester and right now). Thanks.

Human Geography would be easier in every way, but World History would prepare you better for APUSH.

^^^^^^^agreed

Take AP World History. It’s 10x the class H Geo is.

I personally liked HUG more than World (but that was partially due to the teacher). Neither will really help all that much with preparing you for apush. I’d say take HUG since it seems like you already have a pretty hectic schedule. Just do an apush review book over next summer.

AP Human will teach you more about cultural analysis, which can be nice for APUSH. AP World will give you some background information and another perspective for certain international events, which is nice. World also has more advanced essays that require a thesis plus a DBQ (although the world and US DBQs are completely different). I’d recommend world.

AP Human is a kind of pointless, but easy, class. You learn a lot about general themes and much of the class is common sense concepts with fancy names. AP World is much more of a standard history class where you learn the basic events between somewhere like 7000BC (I think) to the present. AP world will prepare you more for APUSH
