Is there a limit to how much college credit one can get for high school classes? Also, under the English course listings it says that only AP classes could be used for credit?! I asked one of the English advisors about it but she didn’t seem to know…I’m in IB English HL so I’ll be a bit peeved if I don’t get anything for two years of work.

IB credit counts.

all the way at the bottom. Dunno about English specifically, but I can’t see why it wouldn’t count for English but it would for everything else.

I don’t think there’s an actual limit, because I have a friend who took so many AP classes that he entered Ohio State having his entire freshmen year done already. I guess if you have a ridiculous amounts of credits, Ohio State might step in and give you a limit, but that’s probably just a case by case basis. Remember that they’re required by state law to accept any AP score at 3 or above and give you some sort of credit for it.

My daughter is a freshman. She took a couple of college courses, a biotechnology course in 12th grade with college credits and lots of AP in high school. She entered with enough credits to be a sophomore. She has enough now already be a Junior, but the credits don’t all count towards her major (molecular genetics then 4 more years to be a pharmacist) so she’ll probably still take 4 yrs to get her 1st degree.

there is a limit on how many AP courses can count. Ohio State will only allow you to have enough to make you a sophomore (45 quarter hours) My friend had over that number and they wouldn’t allow any more than that. Post-secondary does not count towards that limit, if you took any of those classes.

I took IB English HL and as long as you get a 4 on the test, you’ll actually get credit for two classes (English 110 and 220).
