Most of us have ap/ib credit before entering cornell. i want to know if the people already at cornell found thier ap/ib credit useful or should you use it if you have it. If you do use it do you take other classes in place of those classes you got credit for or lessen your workload for a semester?

I would like to know as well.

i used AP credit that i had from bio, macro econ, micro econ, english lit, english language, US history, and one or two others. They're def. worth it (though they aren't anything like a real college course).

I used it to get a jump start in other classes like going into some 200-level english classes.

It's also a way to get some pesty requirements out of the way (micro, macro, and bio were the biggest).

I usually fill the open spots with other electives, since there's thousands of interesting classes offered at Cornell.

Gomestar, can you explain how you used your credit to place into higher level english courses? I thought only one ap english score could be used and it could only be used to place out of one of two freshman writing seminars. (Keep in mind I'm speaking from the perspective of a CAS student, if your school's policies differ, please highlight the differences.)

i'm in ilr, so it might be different. Policies change from year to year and from school to school.

So what were you able to do in ilr with your ap english credit?

i just used them for my freshmen writing seminars. I've taken 3 upper-level english classes since (currently in a 300-level comparative lit class).
