AP/IB credits affecting experience for internships

I have acquired enough AP credits to be considered a sophomore for my first year. However, all these credits are in non-major subjects. When I apply for internships, I assume it will be under sophomore status. I will be at a disadvantage because 2nd year sophomore students will have had a chance to take more courses in my major, and thus be more experienced. Is there any way to cope with this? It seems like AP credits are more of a hindrance than a boon in this situation...

I’m in the same boat as you and didn’t really think about this before. I’ll be coming in with 45 quarter credits, so I’ll just barely be coming in as a sophomre. But I plan on staying aroind 4 years, my school has a 4 year program where I can get my masters in Accounting (if that’s the route I choose) and I want to double major.

But if anything, this will probably help us. Would you rather apply as a sophomore or as a freshman?
Business internships are pretty tough to get for freshman so hopefully I can use this to my advantage.

not gonna feel like a sophomore though haha

Well, I guess in a lot of cases, companies would rather hire upperclassmen, so the faster I become one the better. However, some of the scholarships/internships I am looking at have very specific academic statuses that they want to apply for the position, so when they say they want only college sophomores applying, I feel like I will be at a disadvantage because of my lack of experience in my major.
