AP-IB questions.

So AP SCORES don't count in admission... do IB scores count? Because I'm afraid the predicted scores will come too late for my applications especially the early one...

Also, as AP scores don't count, is there any use in me taking AP physics exam? I'm not taking the course, just exam. Because I don't need the credits...

Well then there really is no use in paying the money to take the exam if you don't need the credits. You could study it on your own for knowledge or prep for college, but in my opinion it is a waste of money.

I don't think IB scores count. They are also less common than AP.

When I found out that my college didn't give out AP credit, I just cancelled all the AP tests that I still had time to cancel, even though I had taken all the classes. Unless you really like standardized testing, there is absolutely no point to it.

No, AP scores do count, but not that much. if you get a huge streak of 3's, colleges will not like it.

it won't look good or anything AT ALL?

I do love standardized testing... but not enough to pay money for it if it does nothing... I thought it might compensate for my less than perfect gr.9 and 10 scores...

thanks for the responses though

Not true, Equilibrium. If you take the APs at the end of senior year, colleges will have already made their decisions and they will not matter at all, except for placement/credit, which you are in control of. Also, you don't have to report your scores if you don't want to. My D took 4 APs, and she got 3 @ 3 and 1 @4. She attends an Ivy League uni and got into three other top LACs. They really don't care about the scores. They care about taking the course, though, if it's appropriate for you. Do the best you can do in the course, and be satisfied at that, if you are not of a mind to study for the APs. Even if you take them junior year, they will matter far less than anything else.

I would be careful about not taking them at all, however. Some schools do not allow you to take the course and then not take the test. Our HS takes away the AP name from the transcript if the student bails on the test.

There are no AP courses in my school and most other in canada...

it's exams or nothing. And i'm not looking to get a billion college credits before going there.
