AP Importance

How important are AP grades (1-5) towards college admissions?
-More or less than SAT II's?
-More or less than final year school grades in the subject?

I say more than both, because they act as a standardizer, which final grades lack, and they're much more in-depth and comprehesive than SAT II exams.

More than SAT II's; less than final year grades I would say because final year grades factor into your GPA which is one of the most important aspects of your app.

nope i'm pretty sure it's less than both. because the top notch colleges require you to report SAT IIs whereas the common app doesn't even have a section for ap scores, just a general section for other awards. most colleges (except for harvard, i think) don't even ask, and they say that you can report them if you want. i've read on multiple school websites that ap scores are pretty much only used for placement if you enroll. sure, it's harder, but not everyone has the opportunity to take it, while everyone should be able to study for and do well on the SAT IIs. and the transcript obviously is the most important part of the app.

OH MY GOD HOW MANY THREADS ARE WE GOING TO HAVE ON THIS? Read around, people, it's on the first damn page!

birk 44 AP scores are self-reported because not all schools offer AP classes.
AP scores are important for college admissions mainly because they indicate how you may perform in college. I'd say they are less important than grades but more important than SAT II scores. You can retake SAT many times a year but AP is only once a year.

AP scores are not as important, I'd think. Obviously your transcript is gonna be pretty important to schools, and if they require SAT IIs, then it obviously means something. AP scores are self-reported, though, and they cannot discriminate based on the number you have taken, because not all schools require the same amount.

i think AP scores aren't that important to colleges, but if you do well they can help you especially if your other standardized test scores aren't as good

Not all colleges even take AP credits, or take a very limited amount, I'm maxed out and have some left over.
