I have taken almost all the ap classes possible and most of them I have self studied but I have been to scared to take the exams for them but I will take them senior year... Is it too late.. will Caltech not like that?? I have the knowledge but just not shown on the AP exams. Will it help to take many ap exams my senior year in may?

See:
"SAT:2250
SAT 2: chem, math 2, span. (all 800’s)
ACT: 35
GPA:3.0 W (dismal, i know)-- due a many health and family issues during sophomore year which killed my GPA— will explain in essays
AP: 13 AP’s so far most self studied because my school doeasn’t offer them. – all 5’s "

This was what i had projected that my score would be once it ook thos eexams

I am not sure that I understand.

Are you going to self study for 13 AP’s, or does your school offer some and you will self study for the remaining?

Have you taken AP’s so far?

Also, if you take the AP’s in your senior year, you will take them around May and the results will not be available until July of that year. By the time the admissions decisions would have been made and will provide no value to you in that front. Telling the admissions committee that you are going to take 13 AP’s in your senior year will cause eye brows to be raised.

The only reason you would want to take AP’s in the senior year is due to ability to waive the prerequisite classes in some universities. So you can go directly to 200 and 300 level classes instead of the 100 level classes, based on the university and the AP score. As far as Caltech is concerned, they do not allow you to waive classes based on AP’s. So it will not provide any value at Caltech. In other universities, it could help but the rules vary from university to university.

Bottom line: Taking AP exams in the senior year will not provide any boost to your admissions chances in Caltech (and it could be considered negatively as the admissions committee has no idea if you will really take the exam and they might think you are trying to tell them something you have no intention of doing.) Similarly, it will not provide you a leg up in waving classes as you still have to do the core.

The story may be different in another university, but you would have to check it out.
