Hey, my school only offers three ap classes, calc, us history, and lit. i got into calc and history, but i turned history down because of the work load. i'm in honors english, but it has been too easy for me. I love english and i want to show colleges that i am a good writer. will it make a big difference to self study and take the lit test? also is it worth it to self study for other ap's like psych, and will only taking one ap look bad on an application? (i come from a private school, im taking all honors besides calc)

It doesn’t hurt you if you only take a few APs under the circumstance that that’s how many APs your school offers. If your school offers 3, I think you should take all 3. If you really aren’t interested in History, then I guess it’s not necessary unless you’re looking at top schools. Although it won’t hurt you to only take 3 APs throughout high school, it would def. help you if you self studied some other APs as it shows colleges that you’re taking the initiative to challenge yourself and learn.

the problem is I made the decision last year and the school wont let me change classes now, so I’m stuck with just calc. will that hurt me presuming I do self study and do well in all my classes? say for a school like carleton?
