Hey guys,
I score very well on my AP Lang in-class essays -- usually in the 8-9 range with 7s on a bad day -- but my multiple choice scores are dismal; I usually get 40-45/55 on the MC. What strategies and prep books do you recommend? I already have the CliffNotes book and was also wondering how accurate its MC questions are.

Let me tell you something. 45 MC + three 7’s = 5 composite score. Study for your other exams :)

I think I did worse than you and I got a 5 on the exam. Relax.

Oh, that’s good news then. Thanks! :D

No problem. I would assume you are a junior? Now if you want some general tips for the Critical Reading section on the SAT, where you have to get close to perfect for an 800, I would say it depends on what is currently your weakness right now. If you go too quickly, maybe read more of the passage and digest it more before going to the questions. If you go too slowly, maybe read the questions first and try to answer the ones you can based on context. Good luck!
