AP Lang: Narration & Description type essays

<p>For prompts that ask you to write a "descriptive essay" or something along those lines, are you allowed to write it like a fictional story/novel? Something in that line of thinking? </p>

<p>I never know how to write those essays and I have another timed writing this coming week I need to prepare for.</p>

<p>I took AP Lang last year, and I didn't see any narratives or descriptives... but I imagine that, as this is a stuffy, dogmatic, dead-white-guy type of test material, you should try not to be too avant-garde. Better safe than sorry.</p>
