hi guys,

we have our second ap lang objective test tomm. I didn't do do so well on my first one, so how do I attack it this time. I ran out of time, so I will def. pace better, but any other tips on how to better overcome the qestions. it seems like a harder version of SAT CR. should I attack it like the sat cr?( annotate pass, line refs), or go about reading the thing first, etc.... how did u guys do well on the mc? please hellllp!!!!

p.s, this is my final... ikr, only one practice test, and this one is like 25 percent of our grade

By “objective,” do you mean you’re taking a multiple-choice, AP-style test for your final?

The only real strategy is to practice as much as possible. Sorry, there’s no way around it. I would argue that the SAT CR section is much easier than AP Lang and the SAT CR questions require less thorough analysis. That being said, if using SAT tactics help you, then go for it.

For me, it was just practice. Know your literary devices well so that you can spot them immediately. Become skilled at noticing all the details of these devices. Practice analyzing tone. When you read a question, try answering it in your mind before reading the answer choices. Don’t bother reading the questions first, because AP passages are so long that you’ll probably forget most of the questions before you’re done. And yes, annotate thoroughly, but don’t waste time writing summaries or anything like that. Use abbreviations and create a system for annotating. For example, I always circle interesting diction and underline other stuff.

Practice.
