AP lang or lit

a little off topic of tests, but
which one should i take?
which one is harder?

From what I've heard Lang is easier than Lit. Lang is more argumentative while Lit is interpretive.

Isn't it too late to decide which one to take this year?

Got a 5 on Lang, 5 on Lit mock but not sure about the actual results yet.

IMO lit is a bit harder. You have to get literature to do well on it whereas Lang is more like looking at the passages and analyzing it on the surface.

lang doesn't have poetry

Lang., in my opinion, is easier.

lit is the harder test but the best class....everyday all we discuss is human nature and everything that goes along with it. my favorite class in all 4 years.

^^ Well I guess that depends on the teacher... :|

Do they both have synthesis essays?

And what's the curve? I'm taking both.

Bump...Anybody??

Synthesis is Lang. I took Lang last year and got a 3. Im guessing my essays weren't that great. Im taking it again this year (along with Lit) but the synthesis stuff is new and I haven't had practice with it...oh well.

I've constantly heard the opposite of what everyone else is saying. Both my AP Lang and AP Lit teachers have always said that literature is the easier test. Of course, it depends on you. Lang is much more "by the books" while Lit is open to a little bit more interpretation.
If your knack is memorizing and sucking up to Collegeboard, then the lang test may be for you. However, many students find assurance in the fact that the lit exam is much more open-ended and you're not shot in the foot for knowing exactly what they want.
My lit teacher told us the other day that if you made a 3 on the lang exam, you can easily make a 4 on the lit. He claims that this has been a prevalent pattern in all years of his teaching. He also confirmed what others here are saying - that poetry is the hardest part of the test.

im choosing for next year, not this year.
And, so if im getting one of the top grades in my regular english class, should i be fine.
Im not an amazing essay writer, but everone in my class tends to think im pretty good. So does my teacher too.
but yeah, is there alot of reading crap like SAt type cr stuff in the actual class.
Because i hate all the SAT type inferences stuff. Is it just a lot of writing? because i like writing a lot.

Last year, 5% got 5s on Lang and 7% got 5s on Lit.

im not too enthusiastic about the test, i just want to know what type of activities you spend most of your time on in class

Loving Lit (here it's considered the higher level class), couldn't imagine suffering through Lang. Lit - discussion/interpretation, Lang - analyze, essays

Just got a lit book for the test tomorrow, all seems pretty easy to me.
I'll probably be on here tommorrow afternoon whining about how ridiculously hard it was tho >_<
Self-studying the night before is definitely the way to go lol...
