Ok so basically I’m super bummed I took 8 AP exams may 2016 and got five 5’s and two 4’s which I’m happy about but than in AP lit I got a 2… I had a 93-94ish% in the class (and she wasn’t an easy grader), I’ve heard AP lang is pretty comparable to ap lit but I cannot get another 2. Should I take AP lang senior year, I’'m not sure whether i did poorly on the test because of some environmental factor (tired or something) or if i am just bad at English! (also study wise i did very minimal on all my tests because that always ends up stressing me out, but that worked for all my other tests…).
If I do decide to take AP Lang is it “studiable”, or is it like in AP Lit where it comes naturally.
(2016 tests: AP psych-5, AP env. sci.-5, AP human geo-5, AP Bio-5, AP statistics-5, AP US-4, AP art-4, AP lit-2)
AP Lang is very much just a test of can you write, and do you know rhetorical skills/grammar. You really can’t “study” for it- for example, in my school most juniors just take it after 11th grade english. I studied for 2 days before the exam by reading the Crash Course book. If you believe that you’re a good writer, I would suggest taking it.
AP Lang is mostly writing, so if you’re a good writer you should be fine. Having a good teacher will also help, since if you have never written a rhetorical analysis/synthesis essay before, they will be the ones to teach you. Even without a good teacher, you should be fine if you study a bit.
