AP Language Analysis Essay?????

Ok, so I was just looking at that score distribution chart of AP exam scores
( 2012 AP Exam Score Distributions), and for AP Language, it said that lots of students did poorly on the Analysis essay, because they only examined style.

What does it mean to only examine style?? What is the right way to write an analysis essay?

I took the exam without taking the class, and at the time, I thought I had aced that essay, but I'm not so sure now.

Style refers to how something is written.

As you know JFK in his speech is very indignant towards the steel companies and you can analyze his diction & syntax to prove this.

There are many other rhetorical elements though,

JFK is an automatic appeal to authority because he is the president.

You can take into account and discuss the historical nature of the period and the urgency of JFK to bring about reform.
