AP Latin/German self-study?

How plausible is AP Latin self-study over the next two years? I already know French and Spanish. Would Wheelock's Latin be enough for grammar, and then just read the lines from Aeneid and Metamorphoses?

I'm also thinking of doing the same with German if this doesn't work out. There don't seem to be any good prep books for the languages!

Thanks a lot!

i do not reccomend taking a language course ap at all not because of the work, but because it is EXTREMELY difficult to study without a teacher of that language....instead.....take another ap like ap psychology which one can study by his/her self and do well in it.

^^ I disagree.

You can study it independently, but use the internet a lot: it has a lot of great resources, and you can use forums for questions and such. It's doable if you really like language. I wouldn't recommend it if you aren't passionate about it.

I really am passionate about languages.

Anyone know some good links for German, Latin AP?

Ap lAtin virgil is too hArd to self study for , i know 'm in it And gEtting An EAsy A ...but to do it by sElf studying is impossible becAuse too mAny linEs 2320 + with no hElp it will bE impossible to figure it All out ......

I recommend only doing German, based on the same reasons mentioned in the above post. Self-studying two AP languages is too much at one time.

I learned German over 1 summer enough to take the AP test, but decided to take the AP class anyway. It was really boring, and i think i lost some of what i knew. Anyway, I ended up getting a 5. But I think i have a good aptitude for languages, and especially grammar. German is a lot easier grammatically than other languages I have learned like Latin and Greek.

fhqwgads2005, would you please tell me what materials you used for self-studying German? I'd really appreciate it cuz I have no clue what book to use. Thanks!
