AP Latin: Vergil

agree with greenbay lol but even if you know your cases it's still tough. blah.

I got a 5 last year. I thought it was really hard, but I guess I did okay. But I walked out thinking i got a 2. Luckily I kind of knew the passage from the aeneid that i had to translate, so I think that helped me a lot.

ablative abosulte is what the name suggets lol but yeah i agree its hard to recognize certain things

oh and I think the essays were what earned me a 5, because I had practiced a lot for them. The curve is pretty generous, but it's a really hard test. I don't necessarily agree, though, that latin is that hard of a language, because you don't have to speak it or write in it.

good job on the five shimmya :D any tips?? hehe

I didn't really expect to do well, so I don't have that much advice because I gave up on studying for it. I'd been taking Latin since 6th grade (read some of the aeneid in 8th grade), so it was a bit easier for me. How I always studied for tests and stuff is getting out the latin and getting out the translation and comparing them word for word. Also study some important passages. Last year's translation passage was about Laocoon and the snakes, and it's one that had stuck in my brain because it was cool. Oh and the essays matter, like a lot. My teacher said they really like when you tie specific stuff from the latin but connect it to overall themes and Vergil's intent and stuff.

I reviewed my cases except the text doesnt provide the macrons for the ablatives. And I'm horrible at scansion! How many different meters and styles are we expected to know how to scan?

For scansion on AP Lit, you have to know: dactylic hexameter, elegaic couplet, hendecasyllabics, choliambics, sapphics, and either greater asclepeadian or alcaics (I can't spell) or both. It's also helpful if you know what meter suits what poetry, i.e. dactylic hexameter = epic, iambics = invective, etc.

I just want a 3 on this test...but even that might be hard for me...there's so much latin, and on the practice MC's I've gotten 50%...on a good day.
It's very tough stuff.

does anybody have any practice MC? if anyone has some, could you please email it to me? thanks, I hope I'm enroute to a 3 for a pass

email - cheesyp18@gmail.com

I would appreciate MCs also anyone...thnx

bump...

any takers on the MC sharing?

Definitely interested here, too.
