I know most colleges offer credit for only one. My school offers a class from iona college weighted the same as an ap class. Would I look like a slacker for taking a lit class from iona rather than ap lit?
If you have the option of taking AP Literature, I think you should take it. Taking both AP Lang and AP Lit at the same time is a bit unusual, however.
@maaz97 I’m not taking them at the same time
My son did not take AP Lit and he got into NU. He did take AP Language and got a 5. Because of scheduling conflicts, Instead of AP lit he just took a regular Eng Comp class.
No. However, AP classes are a known commodity; adcoms are familiar with the structure of the course. They might be less familiar with the rigor of the Iona class. Unless there is a scheduling issue involved, I see no reason for taking the Iona class over AP Lit, but I doubt it will be a determining factor in admissions either way.
My D told AP Eng in junior. Instead of taking AP Lit in senior, she took a college style humanity class which is a double hour for both English and social Science. She really enjoy that class. AP Lit credit is useless for her anyway.
