AP Lit and Comp Reading List

Does anyone know of an official list of books that would be good for the test? My teacher suggested some, but his info is from few years ago, so I'm looking for a more up-to-date list.

Also, is epic poetry, like The Iliad or Paradise Lost, ok for the open essay?

BumppityBumpBump

yes, if the Princeton review is correct, epic poetry would be fine

Alright, thanks.

Does anyone know of an approved list of suggested reading for the test?

AP Eng Lit doesn't have an official reading list. But the board of committees does a have list of great authors whose works are considered the best.

See "representative authors" on page 54. (P60 in the pdf)

^ Alright, thanks.

I haven't looked at the college board list, but these are the books that my teacher's having us read:
Othello
The Awakening
The Power and the Glory
Frankenstein
Rosencrantz and Gildenstern are Dead
The Stranger
Emma
A Tale of Two Cities
The Joy Luck Club
Jane Eyre

And various other short stories and poems.

I know that they like "The Classics," but it's such a broad term...

I'm currently reading Paradise Lost, and will be starting Hamlet in class. Those along with Macbeth and The Aeneid are my main references for the open essay. If I can fit anything else in, that'll just be another resource.
